Shades by Stephen D. Nadaud II (Issue 8)

There is a place where demons tread,
and angels bleed and cry.
A dark pit full of those deceased,
and those who beg to die.

A body's destiny is rot,
it turns to bone and dust.
But spirits, they go on and on,
eternally, and thus,
they must be banished from the Earth,
for mortals must not see,
their loved ones' souls above their beds,
so rife with agony.

And yet there are a foolish few,
who play with boards and cards.
They wish to bring these spirits back,
and God they disregard.

Oh yes, the souls, they do return,
and angels cry aloud.
But Christ Himself is powerless,
for evil's in His house.

Beware of spirits, ghosts and shades,
for once they have arrived,
they won't go back to their dark pit,
and you won't be alive.

So as you turn in every night,
before you go to bed,
check your closets for those souls,
check them for the dead.
